COVID-19 changed workplace safety needs

During the pandemic, companies had to make fast decisions about workplace safety. They needed a way to screen employees, monitor health-related data, and give managers visibility into what was happening across locations.

For SmartSense, this created an urgent market need: build a digital health screening product that could help companies respond quickly.

Launch a digital health screening product in one month.

The goal was to build an employee health screening solution from scratch, fast enough for SmartSense to respond to a real market need.

The product needed to support digital checklists, sync with touchless infrared thermometers, and give managers, HR teams, and executives real-time visibility into workplace safety data.

Our Approach

We kept the first version focused enough to launch fast.

Defined the core workflow

We focused on the workflow that mattered most: employees completing screenings, managers reviewing status by location, and leadership seeing the data through reporting. The goal was to avoid overbuilding and get a useful first version into the market quickly.

Made screening simple to complete

The product had to work for everyday employees, not just admins. We designed a clear screening flow with digital checklists and touchless thermometer data, so workplace safety checks could be completed quickly and consistently.

Built reporting into the product from day one

Managers and HR teams needed visibility without chasing paper forms or manual updates. We built real-time reporting so teams could understand screening activity, monitor locations, and make decisions from the same data.
